Trenin Scores Two in Ads Win

Milwaukee, WI—Yakov Trenin scored a pair of goals and Connor Ingram stopped 28 shots in goal as the Admirals took home a 4-2 win over the Laval Rocket in the Ads home opener at Panther Arena on Saturday night.

Cole Schneider also chipped in a goal and an assist in the game as nine different Admirals found their way onto the score sheet. The win for Ingram was his first as an Admiral, while Josh Wilkins posted his first career goal.

Trenin got the Admirals off to a quick start with his third goal in as many games to start the season. With the puck along the boards in the neutral zone, Cole Schneider chipped the puck towards the Laval net. Trenin got behind their defense to grab the puck and skated in on a breakaway, scoring high-glove side at 3:46 of the first.

The Rocket would counter with the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. The first came courtesy of defenseman Josh Brook at the 14:20 mark and then just over three minutes later Nikita Jevpalovs deflected a Otto Leskinen shot to give Laval the advantage.

However, Milwaukee responded with two of their own in the second period to reclaim the lead. After picking up assists in the first two games, Wilkins found the back of the net for his first tally just 1:38 into the sandwich frame. Wilkins knocked a backhand feed from Freddy Allard out the air, settled the puck, and then fired a wrister to the far post that beat Rocket goalie Charles Lindgren.

Near the mid-way mark of the frame Schneider gave the Admirals a 3-2 advantage with his first of the season. Four second after a hooking penalty to Leskinen expired, Colin Blackwell provided a screen that allowed Schneider’s shot from the right dot to sneak by Lindgren.

From there it was Ingram and the Admirals defense that hold off a third-period attack by the Rocket, who outshot Milwaukee 13-4 in the final frame.

Trenin sealed things for the Ads with an empty-netter with 49.2 seconds to play.

Milwaukee finished the night a perfect 5-for-5 on the evening.

The Admirals 2019-20 regular season, presented by Landmark Credit Union, continues next Friday, October 18 when the Ads begin a two-game set with the Colorado Eagles. Puck drop is slated for 7 pm at Panther Arena.
