Four Score in Home Opener Win

Four Score in Home Opener Win

Milwaukee, WI—Four different Admirals found the back of the net and netminder Isak Posch won for the second time in as many starts as Milwaukee won their home opener with a 4-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday night at Panther Arena.

Posch finished the game with 25 saves and has allowed just one goal in each of his starts. The Ads have scored seven goals in their two victories, all of which have come from different players.

The win also improved Karl Taylor’s record in home openers to 6-2 and was the 278th win of his Ads career, extending his franchise AHL record set last season.

Cole O’Hara scored his first goal of the season 5:06 into the game to give the Ads an early 1-0 lead. Coming off the bench and right into the play, O’Hara took a feed between the wheels from Joakim Kemell, absorbed a hit, and sent an off-balance wrister over the shoulder of Griffins goalie Trey Augustine.

The score remained that way until the second period when the Ads struck for two quick goals from Aiden Fink and Chase Bradley. Fink scored off a one-timer from the inside hashmark at the 3:44 mark of the second and that was followed exactly 100 second later when Bradley scored on a breakaway to make the score 3-0.

The Griffins foiled Posch’s shutout attempt when Carter Bear scored with 4:19 to play in the third, but Kyle Marino sealed the game for the Ads with an empty netter with 2:30 to go to wrap-up the scoring.

The Admirals have another long break and won’t hit the ice until next Friday, October 16th when they host the Colorado Eagles at 7 pm at Panther Arena.
