Ads Turn Back Moose

Milwaukee, WI-  Joakim Kemell finished the night with two goals to lead the Admirals to a 4-1 win over the Manitoba Moose Tuesday at Panther Arena.

The win helped the Ads pull back into a first-place tie in the Central Division with the Texas Stars at 77 points.

However it was the Moose who struck first as Tyson Empey was able to score his 7th goal of the season. Kevin Conley was credited with the primary assist as this proved to be the only goal of the first period.

The action started right away in the second period as Kemell took his chance in a 2-on-1 situation for his 15th goal of the season. Only 47 seconds into the period Kemell beat Moose goaltender Domenic DiVincentiis glove side to level the score at one.

With 2:29 second left in the second period the Admirals grabbed the lead with a power-play goal from Cal O’Reilly with assists from Jesse Ylonen and Jake Lucchini. Lucchini was able to put the puck in the Moose’s zone and  O’Reilly pounced on the rebound to give the Admirals a 2-1 lead.

Mark Friedman opened the scoring 3:37 into the third for the Admirals to build the lead to 3-1. Friedman’s first shot was saved by DiVicentiis but Friedman’s second shot deflected  off a Moose defender and ended up in the back of the net. This was Friedman’s 3rd goal on the season and extended his point streak to six games. With one minute remaining in the game Kemell was able to get an empty netter and score his second goal of the night. This sealed the deal for the Admirals and added to Kemell’s goal total of 16.

Admirals goaltender Matt Murray ended the night with 28 saves and his 22nd victory of the night.

The Admirals travel to Henderson to face Silver Knights for a back-to-back on the 28th and 29th of March, kicking off a five-game roadtrip.
