Milwaukee, WI– The Admirals earned a point but lost on a buzzer beater as Manitoba scored with less than a second to go as they downed the Admirals 4-3 in OT on Wednesday night.
The loss for the Admirals was their first in the month of January since January 31st 2023, a streak of 13 games.
All three Admirals goals were scored by defensemen, as Kevin Gravel, Jake Livingstone and Marc Del Gaizo each found the back of the night. Scott Reedy dished out a pair of assists, his first as an Admiral.
After a scoreless first period, the Moose found the lead just under five minutes into the second as center Ben King fired a snapshot from between the wheels past Admirals goalie Magnus Chrona, initiated by a quick centering pass from winger Nikita Chibrikov.
The Admirals responded shortly after, as a turnover from the Moose led to captain Kevin Gravel in control of the puck. Positioned in the slot, Gravel’s shot went off the glove of Manitoba Goalie Thomas Milic and into the back of the net at the 13:08 mark.
The Admirals took their first lead of the game with 5:40 left in the second on Jake Livingstone’s fourth goal of the season. Aided by Scott Reedy’s faceoff win, Livingstone’s shot snuck through traffic and over the shoulder of Milic to make it 2-1 Admirals.
The Moose tied the score late in the second as Mason Shaw got the tip off Dylan Anhorn’s centering pass on the powerplay with a minute to go, settling the score at 2-2.
The third period kicked off with a Manitoba goal at the 1:29 mark when Parker Ford coasts past the Admiral’s blue line and strikes one past Chrona from the slot to give them a one goal advantage.
The Admirals found an answer at 10:10 when Marc Del Gaizo skated the puck from the top of the left circle before firing a shot from the dot that beat Milic to even the score.
After the rest of regulation remained scoreless, Manitoba secured the win with less than a second to go in OT after Dylan Anhorn tipped a shot from Parker Ford past Chrona.
The Admirals have a day off before they face the Texas Stars on Friday the 10th at 7:00 at Panther Arena.
